The Society regularly takes up investors’ grievances with concerned companies and regulators. It organises investors’ meets for various needs and updates investors regularly about developments and their impact. This includes organising regular investor meets on major events such as the Union Budget etc.
The Society organised a workshop for college teachers on “Contemporary Issues Relating to Consumer Protection” on 14 March, 2007 at Lakshmibai College, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi in collaboration with Consumer Rights Awareness Forum, Lakshmibai College, University of Delhi, New Delhi.
The Society organised a half-day seminar on “Investors’ Protection: Empowering Young Investors” in collaboration with the Consumer Club of Kamla Nehru College, University of Delhi, on 21 February, 2007 at Khel Gaon, New Delhi. The seminar was attended by around 150 participants from different walks of life.
The Society organised a one-day national seminar on “Investors’ Protection: Empowering Young Investors” in collaboration with the Academic Fraternity of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies on 3 November, 2006 at the Institute Campus in Rohini, New Delhi. The seminar was attended by around 200 participants from different walks of life.
The Society also organised three seminars on Investors’ Education in Sahibabad (Ghaziabad), Faridabad and Gurgaon on 10.12.2005, 25.2.2006 and 29.3.06 respectively. The same were funded by Ministry of Company Affairs under its Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) scheme. The seminars were attended by a large number of investors and addressed by eminent speakers, namely, Mr. P.C. Gupta, Minister of Company Affairs, Mr. Pawan Kumar, Director, Ministry of Company Affairs, Dr. P.S. Rana, Chairman and MD, HUDCO, Mr. Surendra Goyal, MP, Mr. Avtar Singh Bhadana, MP, Mr. Shankar Sharma of First Global, etc.
Mr. Lalit Khanna, CEO, Escorts Mutual Fund, Mr. Kavi Kumar, Director, Indiabulls, Mr. Narendra Kumar, Secretary, Industries, Delhi Government, Mr. P.N. Vijay, Managing Director, PN Vijay Financial Services, Mr. Alok Ranjan, COO, Cerebra Research, Mr. V Swaminathan, Director, Wealth Advisory Services, Mr. B.R. Sachdeva, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, Mr. Niamatullah, former Managing Director, SBI Caps and Director, International College of Financial Planning, Mr. R. Prasad, Chairman, R.R. Financial, Ms. Anjali Mukhija from R.R. Securities, Dr. V.K. Singhania, eminent author and tax consultant, Dr. Vinod Kumar, educationist and financial researcher, and so on. More than 160 participants attended each of these seminars.
The Society also organised a one-day national seminar on the Concept Paper for New Companies Act which was inaugurated by the Minister of Company Affairs, Mr P.C. Gupta on 20.11.04 at Le Meridien Hotel, attended by 150 participants. The seminar was addressed by top officials of the Ministry of Company Affairs and Company Law Board, including Mr. K.C. Ganjwal, Mr. R. Vasudevan, Mr. Pawan Kumar and Mr. M.M.K. Sardana. Corporate executives such as Mr. Akhil Gupta, Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, Mr Harish Vaid of Jaiprakash Group of Industries, Dinesh Mittal of Whirlpool; and corporate consultants and practitioners such as Mr. U.K. Chaudhary, Mr. Satvinder Singh, Mr. Anuj Goel, and Ms. Avnita Avasthi also addressed the seminar.
