| The Society for Consumers and Investors Protection (SCIP) was formed by a group of eminent professionals comprising of people drawn from areas as diverse as academics, law, administration, media, industry and others. The Society is registered with the Registrar of Societies, New Delhi since June 1989 and has been duly recognized by Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA)Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The Society regularly receives complaints from a large number of aggrieved investors & consumers. It helps to resolve these grievances by taking them up at various legal platforms including district state and national consumer redressal forums, district courts and High Courts and other legal avenues available in the country. The society’s success rate in its legal battles has been almost hundred percent.
The society has done commendable research work with the most significant being constituting an Investor Sentiment Index a first of its kind for India. The project was sponsored by Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The society has also made investor education programs for various business channels including Doordarshan.
It won the case against DLF to get justice to about 1400 shareholders who overnight turned millionaires and also won the case at Delhi High Court for registrants of DDAs Rohini Scheme. It regularly organizes seminars in NCR of Delhi to promote investor education & awareness.
